It’s September. September! I keep telling myself over and over again. Yes….it is September. I don’t know anyone that’s ready to let summer go, but for some reason once we start to move towards the middle of September, people seem to happy to embrace fall. It’s just so hard saying goodbye to summer when it ends. Since I’m not quite ready to let go of the warm weather just yet, I thought I’d blog about something warm and tropical as one last hurrah to summer!
Back in June I participated in an awesome collaboration with some wonderful ladies to bring you all a beautifully styled Flamingo Pool Party! I’ve been hanging onto these photos until I got this blog rolling and now with the first post out of the way, I can finally share these with you!
Flamingos are a hot trend right now. Anything tropical really. Flamingos, pineapples, along with palm leaves, are popping up everywhere, and I have to say it really is one of my favourite trends! I hope it sticks around for a little while, because who doesn’t love a tropical vacation? And if a vacation isn’t in the cards, well then, you might as well bring the tropics to your home!
Our party was at the wonderful Hampton Inn Calgary Airport. They were very gracious to let us use their space. During the set up for the photo-shoot some of us (myself) and our kids, even enjoyed a dip in the pool!
This tropical oasis was styled by the lovely Sherry from @littlechicparties. Sherry’s knack for coordinating balloons, greenery, sweets and partywares is truly amazing and I hope these photos give you inspiration when creating your own Flamingo party.
Let's start with the treat cart. If you weren't craving sweets before then I apologize if you are running to the pantry before you get through this blog. 😊
The dessert cart was decked out with cake, cookies, cupcakes and the ever famous macarons. Flamingo, pineapple and palm leaf sugar cookies, were beautifully created by Bakery Box. Stunning flamingo cupcakes and cute pineapple macrons were made by the talented 8 Cakes.
In addition to the treat cart we had a kids table. Kids love having their tiny version of real life things, wither its a tiny kitchen, workshop, or play house. So why not give them their own special kid-sized table at a party? Succulents & Stems brought in and helped style the fabulous tropical greenery that created the centerpiece for this table.
Of course a Flamingo pool party needs some tropical partywares! That's where A Little Confetti came in. The kids table was set with layers of flamingo and palm leaf plates accented by a large coral plate. Palm tree cups with gold details and gold confetti napkins add some fun and flare to the set up.
When working with Sherry no detail is missed! From the treat cart canopy, to the various flamingo and pineapple decor, she has an eye for detail. Even the chairs have a fun tropical image on them!
