In Alberta we are about to be hit with a triple whammy! Valentine's Day, Family Day holiday and for some school boards, PD days - oh and don't forget covid! This means during the polar vortex (yes, we are experiencing temps as low as 40 degrees Celsius with windchills) the kids will be stuck inside for 4-5 days over the upcoming weekend. I'm already thinking how am I going to keep my little guy busy? (it's actually his birthday too!)
Well it's never too cold for a mini party and we teamed up with Laura and some local businesses to bring you some mini Valentine's party inspiration, complete with activities.

We love that the Dunford girls are always up for a party and not only does Laura know how to make it super cute, she always has some fun activities for the kids.
You can put as much or as little work into a party as you like, and honestly, as long as there are some balloons, partywares and activities, the kids are going to love it.
For this mini party Laura used some of our heart plates, rose large plates, and heart napkins along with our sweet talk tumblers (click here to shop our Valentine's collection). She baked some super cute cookies to match the Meri Meri heart shaped doodle plates, purchased some flowers from a local store and used pink and red coloured valentine's books for a centerpiece. Brilliant but also doable right?
For activities the girls were treated to Valentine's Create Kits from local Hip Hooray Studios! These create kits, curated by artist Elise Fehr, are full of the cutest crafty items and knick knacks. They are designed to let your kids creativity and imagination soar. Make a magical wand, a valentine's wall hanging, a cute card...so many possibilities within one box.
It's not a party without treats right? The girls has a blast partaking in Sugarcube's fun Valentine's Day Scavenger hunt. The package comes complete with fun Valentine's riddles and delicious treats, all you have to do is hide each one in their designated place and let the kids have fun finding them!
"A party without cake is just a meeting" said Julia Child, over here we are big fans of cake so we'd have to agree. But do you see the cake in this next photo?
It's inside the bear! What a fun surprise right? For these chocolate bears and more fun treats check out 8 Cakes.
One last tip to share with you, and this is a fun and easy one too! If you have a heart shaped plate, grab some snacks and make a little snack board. If you don't have a heart shaped board, any plate or board will do. If you stick to a colour scheme as Laura did here, it'll be more eye appealing.
I hope I've given you a few ideas to keep your little ones busy this Valentine's Day. Keep scrolling for more inspiration from the Dunford Girls and to see the cutest tutu's from Tutu Love Shop!
Keep partying!
